Number Corner and Work Places

The first few days of the school year, students have been looking closely at the calendar and routines associated with this element of our math program. Throughout the year, students will update it daily.  These past two weeks, we've been singing a range of days of the week songs and getting acquainted with the months of the year.  It will be helpful to review your child's birthday month with them at home.  We have also been counting the days in school, looking for patterns, talking about shape attributes, and so much more.  Here's a peak into this month's calendar!

Students have also been exploring and learning how to use various math tools - unifix cubes, pattern blocks, bugs, geoboards, and polydrons.  These tools will be used to teach a variety of math skills over the year.  To start the year, children learn how to use and take care of them.
