Composting

On Tuesday, Gwen from the Central Vermont Solid Waste came to do a presentation about how to reduce, recycle, and reuse at our school.  After showing a brief video about composting and recycling Gwen explained to us the importance of and how to go about composting and recycling here at UES.  Students are experimenting with this in the cafeteria, however we'd like to continue this work after our snack in the classroom.  If you have a bucket (with handles) that would work well for a classroom compost bucket, please send it in with your child. Once we start composting, it will be the students' job to empty the compost every few days (hence the handle to carefully carry down the hall!).  Later in the spring, we'll meet Gwen again and learn about where all our compost goes and enjoy fresh lettuce right in the cafeteria!
