OT Integration

Meet Diane Solomon, our districts Occupational Therapist.  Today Mrs. Soloman taught us how to exercise our fingers and hands for learning. Learning and practicing particular fine motor skills through a variety of activities help prepare young children for many different tasks.  For example, to properly holding a pencil to write their names and letters of the alphabet. Fine motor skills also engage children in learning how to focus their minds, and take their time on a task all while improving dexterity. We will have weekly fine motor skill lessons with Mrs. Solomon for the next month or so.   Students either maked a small glue shape and carefully picking up one bean at a time to create the shape and or stretched, pulled, and squeezed putty to find and remove small treasure toys.  Feel free to inquire with me for more activities you could do at home with your child to improve their fine motor skills.
