This week, we've been working on solving math number stories that involve counting in 5's and 10's. Students are using sea stars and crabs to look at the numbers of legs, arms, antennae, eyes, etc. All children are encouraged to show their thinking and prove their answer with pictures, numbers, and words. Students are exploring their thinking in many ways and are defending the answer they believe to be true. There is so much value in math to not just know the answer - but to be able to explain how one gets there. INQUIRE with your child about solving these problems and also about the problem they created!
