Students will be immersed in an author study of Cynthia Rylant over the next few weeks. Rylant wrote many of her stories using experiences from her life, especially that of her dog and cats - Benjamin and Boris. Students learned about the life of Cynthia Rylant and made many connections with the way Rylant plans and writes. Students were surprised of how many books they were familiar with - ones that are in many of our book boxes! Over the course of this unit as both students and teachers read, students will practice a variety of comprehension strategies and story elements.
