Before we sit down to write this week, students have been exploring a variety of nonfiction texts to do some of their own learning from famous authors. Children have been looking to these mentor authors to help them try new things in their own writing. Children find nifty tricks, then share out with the group. They even try these out in their own writing. We are just beginning our last bend in our nonfiction writing unit and have been becoming increasingly more fluent and resourceful when writing. INQUIRE with your child what "chapter" book they are currently writing. What are the different chapter titles called? How are they going about teaching their reader?
