Walking Tour

We have a scheduled choice time during our afternoon.  This time looks different than it did in Kindergarten.  Last year, we generally stayed inside and the children moved around to different play based centers.  So far this year, this time has been used for a variety of experiences - playing on the playground, exploring the butterfly gardens, art projects, activities with buddies, and today - a walk to Harrison Field accompanied by Mrs. Wrigley's class.  Harrison Field and Forest is our outdoor classroom location for first grade ECO.  We will be traveling here to continue our social studies and science learning throughout the year.  Today, we practiced walking up to the field, navigating our way through construction and taking a quick peek at the sunflowers we planted last year.  Routines and rules were reviewed and students recounted memories of their past year. Many were itching to stay and explore! We'll be sure to come back in the upcoming weeks for field games and social learning. ECO will be starting the first week of October.  Be on the lookout for the schedule and volunteer sign up. We always need chaperones for these days!
