Plant Parts

Today we looked closely at the different parts that make up a flower and learned about what each part does to help it grow. After singing a song about the plant parts to the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus" Autumn and Alanna read us two great books about plants.  They have been practicing reading these books together during daily 5.  I also read, "Planting a Rainbow" by Lois Ehlert before designing our own flowers for a rainbow garden for the hallway.  Our flowers resembled Lois Ehlert illustrations, as she is known for her collage style.  Next to our flowers, we made sure to label each part.
