Music Teacher

Meet Ms. Funk, our new music teacher at Union Elementary.  If you see her around the building, make sure you give her a warm welcome!  Our friends really enjoyed their first music class on Friday! 

Playground

We are so excited to welcome many new pieces of playground structures to the lower playground.  There are many chairs, a race car, logs to climb on, build with, musical instruments and so much more.  INQUIRE with your child what new playground equipment they have tried! 

We have been trying to get outside A LOT in first grade.  Students are meeting new friends, developing deeper relationships, learning to problem solve, play safely and more as they navigate the playground with their peers.  INQUIRE with your child how they show empathy and self-control while outside! 

Insects

Thanks for sending in all the dried bugs. We are starting our insect study by learning about the ladybug this week.  More info to come! If you find any more dried insects around your house, feel free to send them in! 

Transitions into a long day...

To help us transition into an afternoon of learning (and to be back in school), students get about 15 minutes each afternoon for "quiet time" after lunch and recess.  During this time, our friends can choose to rest at their desks, draw/color, and or listen to a story read aloud.

1st Day of 1st Grade!

A day full of new adventures, friends, activities, and fun!  INQUIRE with your child about 

what they did on their first day of 1st grade! From new songs (bugs, bugs, bugs) to new classroom setup, new friends, new playground equipment, and new learning expectations, we jumped into our first day with excited and open minds to learning! 

"I had a good summer having fun. I went to lake Elmore and I went to PA and lake winnipasaukee and a bunch of camps and Charlestown RI. I can't wait for first grade!"

Busy Busy!

Sumer was busy for this guy- NYC trip, amtrek ride, Empire State Building, museum of natural history, trying on new glasses, finally being able to pump and swing by himself, camping trip, and pizza putt with classmates! 

Back to School Hello

I wanted to drop a quick note to let you know that I'm eagerly awaiting the start of school. I would love to see you all and say hi before the first day of school. I plan to have some time set aside next Tuesday to be able to check-in with you. This is an informal optional visit for your child to stop by and help alleviate some back to school anxiety. If you can't make it during the allotted time, please let me know if another time works better and I'll check my meeting schedule to see if I'm around. If not, I'll definitely see you Wednesday morning!
