Card Games
Thanks to all who have sent in playing cards. As students continue to build fluency in math number sense, more time practicing counting, adding, subtracting, comparing, etc is important. In the last few weeks, students have been thoroughly engaged and enjoying learning variations on your typical card games. Go Fish is used to practice making 10 and 20, Top It (war) is used to practice reading and comparing numbers with 2 and 3 digits, Memory and Bingo is used to practice solving facts, Dominos to practice addition and subtraction, and the the most favorite of all in our class has been Salute - a 3 person game that involves putting cards on your forehead and completing a missing addend in a number sentence. INQUIRE with your child how to play any of these new and engaging card games! Perhaps your child will challenge you to a game!
